Have you been out on a date with a guy, or perhaps you just hung out for the first time and now you’d like to send him a text but you don’t know what to say? Or perhaps you matched with a guy on Tinder and you don’t know what to say to get the conversation going? Yeah, we’ve all been there. It’s an awkward place to be. A lot of girls are told that you should wait for the guy to call or text first, but we think that rule is stupid and outdated. There’s no reason you shouldn’t text him first. And we even have a couple of helpful suggestions on what to text him so you don’t end up sending him an awkward “hey” or even worse – an emoji.
1. Compliment Him
One of the most obvious but underrated things you can say to a man is a compliment. If it’s someone you’ve been on a date with, you can always start a text conversation by letting them know you’ve had a nice time and then follow it up with a compliment about their style, their manners or perhaps you really liked the smell of their cologne. It’ll do wonders to their ego and let them know you’re interested in seeing them again.
2. Common Interest
If it’s someone you don’t know very well, you can always look through their social media, see if you share any common interests and comment on that. So, for example, if they have a dog and so do you, you can jokingly suggest a play date for your puppies. If they’re into music ask them what’s the last concert they’ve been to.
3. Ask For Advice
A good way to get someone’s attention over task is to ask someone for advice. We’re not talking about serious advice like “should I have this surgery or not”, of course. But something small yet totally feasible like “What’s the best/your favorite takeout place?” will guarantee you a reply 99% of the time.
